Historique :	Saint Antoine le Grand naquit en Egypte en 251 et y mourut le 17 janvier 356... En Corse à la fin du Moyen Age, de nombreuses confréries de pénitents ont choisi saint Antoine abbé comme patron en raison de la pénitence qu'il a pratiquée au désert durant de longues années. La confrérie de Speluncatu se dota de cette statue au 18ème siècle lorsqu'elle prit possession de l'église Sainte-Catherine.
